Our latest review is up on Just Write for Kids

Here is an extract.

“The mix of musical lyrics, sensitive dialogue and thoughtful stories effortlessly blend with the mesmerisingly enchanting illustrations to allow us to venture into the cultures and wonderments of the people, creatures, and our own imaginations. Magic Fish Dreaming is a book that will engage the reflectors, the adventurers and the poets in all of us.”

Magical for children aged five and up.  Romi Sharp

“Thank you  for sending your beautiful new children’s book “Magic Fish Dreaming” all the way from Australia, signed by you and the illustrator. She said “oooooh,” which means five star review from her.  This book was lovely. The poems and the illustrations were beautiful. She was ooohing at the picture where the children are sitting under the moon and at the Tawny Frogmouth especially.

*Thanks for permission from this little one’s mum to share this picture.

Like the work of Michael Rosen and Shirley Hughes, images and words combine to evoke the textures and spirit of landscapes.

Magic Fish Dreaming should be out, open and working its magic in every kindergarten, primary classroom and home—it will certainly stay with me as I set off on my next poetic expedition.

Helen Ramoutsaki, poet, lyricist, performer and educator

The lilting rhythms of June’s verse and the creatures and curiosities that swirl throughout each of Helene’s illustrations will entrance and delight children for generations.

An award winning poetic celebration and exploration of nature, people and imagination in Far North Queensland.

Encourages children and families everywhere to hunt for their own nature-based or urban poems.

“Luminous and jubilant, Magic Fish Dreaming explores an imaginative world of rainforest and cassowary, the flicker of geckos and the roll of quolls. Whimsical poems and exquisite images invite readers to venture into vibrant, magical places, rich with stories and legends.

Like the work of Michael Rosen and Shirley Hughes, images and words combine to evoke the textures and spirit of landscapes. Here, though, it is a vibrant Australian world readers discover, one alive with the colour and energy of nature and many cultures.”

Felicity Plunkett, Poet and Poetry Editor for University of Queensland Press
